Here's to another year of frills!

My coord highlight from last year!

Happy New Year!

2024 was an interesting year in my lolita journey.
I spent most of the year not wearing pastels, which is funny because my first love was and will always be the 2010's sweet era: pastel prints, big hair, and flashy makeup. But, I wasn't in the mood to wear a lot of color last year, if we're being honest.

I found a lot of comfort in kuro and gothic last year. It's been cool experimenting with different coordinates, makeup, and hair styling. I was always curious about and interested in it so I'm glad I finally took the leap! Having goth friends to cheer you on also made it extra fun! I still have a few items on my wishlist to acquire and then I'll have a really nice little capsule wardrobe to play with!

I also had really great experiences with my community and close friends.
My local comm is small and we don't often get the chance to have many meets, so the ones we did have were always such a delight to attend. Even though I'm naturally a very shy person, and I generally prefer to be alone - I planned and hosted craft meets and private teas at my home!

I don't think I could ever imagine going back to being a lonelita! That doesn't mean that I can't and don't go out and have solo experiences, but there's something so beautiful about building in person community with people who share the same interests as you.

Some shots from afternoon tea at my house!

I didn't make too many resolutions, because I'm awful at sticking to them but one I was (mostly) able to keep up with was trying to dress up out of my days off. My significant other and I went on a lot of bakery and bookshop dates and I made an effort to wear a coordinate whenever I could.

If I were to make a list of any goals or resolutions for this year they would be:

1. Continue going on weekly or bi-weekly outings.

I spend most of my life at work, in very boring clothes. When I'm not at work I'm wearing pajamas, specifically one of my guy's extra large graphic tees and I have noticed that it does take a toll on me. I want to keep making an effort to not get stuck in the work-sleep-work grind.

2. Cut back on main pieces and buy blouses and socks.

I can't say I won't acquire new dresses, but I will focus on buying more basic items over being swept away by new dress releases. For gothic, I would like to buy another AtePie shirring princess sleeve blouse in white and a long sleeve blouse with a standing collar. As for sweet, I want something in a soft yellow and lilac.

I have a workable collection of socks, but my eyes have been on Meta's raschel lace OTKs, various print socks from AP, and a few Chinese brands. Tights have been hit or miss for me because of my waist and hips but I would be open to buying some made with a good size range!

3. Blogging and video content (?)

This is the last and probably the most difficult of my small goal list for 2025.
I would like to blog more, even if it's just small things like recent buys and coord documenting. I love browsing through blogs in the morning with a cup of coffee and seeing what other people have been getting up to or their random musings about our fashion - I believe that it's an important part of lolita culture and I admire those dedicated to keeping the tradition alive. I don't really excel at writing, but it's fun!

Video content is something that I do and a supplement to wearing lolita! I enjoy documenting what I'm wearing and my craft/sewing projects. It's been super rewarding building something for myself over on TikTok but its future seems kind of uncertain at the moment. I have no desire to move over to Instagram reels due to how unpredictable the audience is, people are just really mean and unhinged over there (LOL). So, while I want to continue.. I don't know how much longer I'll be able to do it.

I have a YouTube channel that I was uploading to frequently, but long-form video content is a lot of work! I can't say whether or not that's something that I would like to pick back up..I guess all i can really do is just keep on with what I'm doing and see what the future holds!

That's it for this blog post!
It was pretty spontaneous and I didn't plan it out at all so I'm sure it's a strange read, my apologies!

I hope that you all have a blessed and prosperous year.
What are your lolita goals for 2025? Did you keep all your 2024 resolutions?
