Cat Cafe Lolita Date

I had my first lolita date of the year a few days away and wanted to share some photos. It was my first time visiting a cat cafe! Our local community had a meet in one a few cities away, but I discovered there was one much closer to home and asked my friend if she wanted to meet there. We agreed on the date and time, then spent the afternoon hanging out and catching up

Here is my first coord of 2023, I wanted to wear something simple and super pink!
It's been while since I wore My Friend Usakumya Judy, so I chose that for this occasion,

KC: Bodyline

Cardigan: BTSSB

JSK: BTSSB

Bunny bracelet/Ring: Soft

Bear Ring: CC Cat

Socks: RojiRoji

Shoes: Bodyline

Once we arrived at the cafe, the staff greeted us, and informed us that this cafe acts as a large foster home for anywhere between 20 to 40 cats at a time!

In the 5 months that they've been open, they've had almost 200 adoptions! With equal amounts of kittens, adult and senior cats finding their forever homes.

After that, we signed a waiver and paid an entry fee of $12 (including tax) for an hour inside the cafe. I also decided to buy a cat treat, since I personally don't know how to get the attention of cats very well. Aside from taking care of a middle school friend's cat for a year when she moved to a new state, I've never had my own cat. I was a bit nervous!

The inside of the cafe was clean, and had so many places for the cats to sleep, play, eat and explore! I wish I had done a better job taking photos ٩(ˊ〇ˋ*)و the interior was super fun!

When we went inside, about 90% of the cats were napping, so I thought that maybe we chose a bad time but after a few minutes of moving around and fiddling with the toys, the cats were ready to play!

They really loved the fish treat I picked up! I was so happy to have so many cats snuggling up with me.
(even if they only wanted to eat hehe)

My friend A-chan had lots of chats chasing after her with this toy. She has cats back home in Japan, so naturally, she had no trouble calling them!

She wore a really cute coordinate as well, it's fun having a gothic friend, the contrast in our styles is really cool.

We actually ended up overstaying our hour at the cafe (oops) but the staff seemed really happy that the place was filling up so much that day and didn't mind letting us enjoy the cats for a bit longer.

They told us the names of the cats and even occasionally plopped one down next to us to help with socializing them! I had so much fun there and would love to come back with a book and spend a few hours relaxing.

In true lolita fashion, we couldn't end our lolita date without having a treat and some coffee! A-chan is ridiculously good at finding local cafes. I've lived in this city for years and didn't even know we had so many great spots!

She ordered an apple cinnamon scone and had a specialty drink called "The Florist". I believe it had espresso, lavender, and honey? I decided on a chocolate croissant and a drink called "The Beekeeper"! It was a tasty blend of cinnamon and espresso with local honey.

We talked casually about lolita life in the states compared to japan, our opinions on newer brand releases, and our thoughts on an upcoming meet! It'll be our first time seeing the community since October. Hopefully, I'll be able to blog about it as well.

That's all for today! Thank you for reading!

"Where do you buy lolita fashion" : A List For TikTok

Hello again, today's blog is less of a blog post and more of a list. Specifically, a list for TikTok.

The more I post of my wardrobe and coordinates, the more I get the questions:

"Where do you buy lolita?" "What brands do you like?", regardless of how many times I've already answered and made videos about it.

The app's demographic skews relatively young, especially on the J-fashion side. Thousands upon thousands of young people are being introduced to street fashion every day. I'm incredibly happy that the fashions I loved as a teenager are reaching the generation after me. Still, I am sad to see that TikTok doesn't seem to encourage its users to do any outside research.

This often leads to long-time wearers of the many fashions: lolita, decora, gyaru, fairy kei, etc., to be constantly pelted with the same questions on an almost daily basis. It can be incredibly overwhelming, but hopefully, having this link on hand will make my experience in posting lolita fashion on TikTok a bit less overwhelming.

A small note on lolita shopping

I would like to say (to beginners) that lolita fashion does not operate in the same way that Western fast fashion does. Many brands, especially the smaller ones, will release small amounts of their pieces. Meaning that, unless there is demand for more, most of the time after everything is sold out, that's it.

Unless the brands decide to do another run of the items, you will more than likely have to search around secondhand sites to find specific pieces. In that way, lolita shopping requires a bit of patience. You don't always get instant gratification, and that's okay!

The list

This is NOT a list of every single lolita brand in existence, but I will occasionally update it with new finds!

Japanese Brands & Secondhand Sites

Western brands & Secondhand

Chinese brands

This portion is where my list became difficult to put together. I find that Chinese brands tend to come and go quite randomly because the competition is really stiff.

Another note, because there are so many brands in China, I highly recommend joining Xiaohongshu/Little Red Book. Chinese lolitas are really great about writing honest and helpful reviews. It's also a good way to keep up with and discover brands without relying on update pages.

My 2022 Lolita Wardrobe

Hello, and welcome to my first blog post!

I've wanted to write a blog for a while, but I am no writer and often lack to time (+ motivation) to sit and write. This year though, I've decided to finally start - with a wardrobe post!

I don't consider my collection to be very impressive, as I've only been wearing lolita since 2019 and a few of my pieces reflect the days when I was a newbie! It's honestly a little embarrassing to share those items, but until I get rid of them, they're a part of my current wardrobe.

While embarrassing, I do think it's neat to scroll and see how my tastes have changed and evolved! I even started purchasing from my favorite non-sweet brands/shops; Sheglit, Moitie, and AtePie. I hope to continue collecting and buying lolita for many more years to come.

This post is also quite long, and very photo heavy.

I would recommend viewing on PC! Thank you for looking! ( ´ ▽ ` )

Skirts

Sweet Mildred

These are skirts that I purchased right at the start of my lolita journey!
The pink one is shantung, a very lovely fabric but this skirt needs to be altered smaller to fit me better.

The red tartan skirt is my absolute favorite. I accidentally shrunk it in the dryer, and it ended up becoming the perfect length and fit! What a wonderful coincidence ♡ I wear this skirt so frequently that I consider it to be the lolita equivalent of a good pair of jeans; reliable and durable!

♡♡♡♡

Handmade

Around 2021- 2022 I became interested in learning to make simple items for my wardrobe; so I learned to make very simple rectangle skirts. I think they make nice staples for casual coordinates and don't take much effort to put together. I want to get a serger and give some more complex designs a try this year (´ω`*)

OPs

Sweet Mildred

I bought this secondhand from a friend! I was very indecisive at the Sweet Mildred booth and ended up getting the two skirts over this OP, something I really regretted! It works great in casual coordinates.

♡♡♡♡

HeartE

I bought this OP from an insta-blogger I enjoy, Runemidgarts! I don't know much about HeartE as a brand, but this piece is so sweet and perfect for spring. It's quite faded from age, but I'm very fond of it.

♡♡♡♡

GlitterTale

This OP is a design that I really love for its simplicity, but the bodice is a little too long for my body. It's not something that I'm skilled enough to alter myself, so I would like to take it to a tailor one of these days.

♡♡♡♡

And Romeo

A Christmas present from my significant other! I love the mini sleeves and neckties.
There were originally 3 tiers of chiffon at the bottom, but I cut one off!

♡♡♡♡

Sheglit

I saw this OP on Atelier Pierrot's Instagram and immediately fell in love. It's simple, has neckties, and is ridiculously comfortable. Sheglit is so elegant, this year I would like to purchase more of their pieces.

♡♡♡♡

Valle lys
(Atelier Pierrot)

The OP that plagued my mind for ages before I finally decided to purchase it!
I love the tiers of chiffon, the dramatic sleeves, and the *neckties*!
It's so dreamy, one day I would like to own the short version as well.

♡♡♡♡

Angelic Pretty

This cutsew OP feels like a pair of pajamas! It also has..neckties (・`ω´・)

♡♡♡♡

JSKs

For this portion of the blog, I think it would be best to organize my jumper skirts by brand.
I'll be starting with Japanese brands and moving into indie, and lastly pieces from my newbie era.

Baby, The Stars Shine Bright

I really adore BTSSB's aesthetics, it's more fairytale-like and classically cute compared to AP's sugary sweet motifs. I hope to get my hands on a Babydoll and Lace Frill JSK!

♡♡♡♡

Maxicimam

This was actually the first brand item I bought! Pooche Candy Pot!
I believe I got it for around $74 on LaceMarket.
(edit: I lied, I bought it for $44)

♡♡♡♡

Angelic Pretty

I honestly hoped to have more AP, unfortunately, I began to wear lolita in November of 2019 and had no idea the sweet boom would happen not so long after. I'm just not willing to pay the current prices
 ┐(‘~` )┌

I was able to get the MTO for Sugary Carnival, so hopefully, more of my dream prints will also get rereleased in the future! I'm willing to wait!

♡♡♡♡

Starry Frills

This was one of my favorite indie brand releases, and my poor photography skills do absolutely no justice to it! The JSK and lining are both 100% cotton, and it has a small crinoline inside. Even better, it has pockets!

I hope that this brand will be able to come back in the future and release more pieces!

♡♡♡♡

CC Cat

Another of my favorite indie releases! I think that every sweet lolita I follow and am friends with owns this set in different colors and I get it. This dress is comfortable, the print is adorable and the price was really good! It also has a cotton lining and a small built-in petticoat

I'm incredibly sad that they closed up shop, I think they had the potential to be a great 2010's inspired brand! What a shame (TдT)

♡♡♡♡

Creamy Cutie Pie

I really liked all the color options from this release, and was overwhelmed trying to pick so I let my significant other choose for me! Naturally, he chose black and I'm happy with it too. I love the different patterns mixed together, it's really kitschy and fun.

I forgot to attach them for the photos, but this dress comes with cute little candy attachments that you pin all around the solid black area of the skirt.

♡♡♡♡

Glitter Tale

I like this brand for its customization and wide variety of commercially available fabrics. I had these dresses made in late 2019 to early/mid-2020 but my taste has changed quite a bit and I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the super bright snack print or the chocolate bear print.

The tea part print is definitely staying though, I still love it a lot!

♡♡♡♡

Fluff Mollie

This series came in so many colors that I really had a hard time, everything was able to mixed and matched; the bolero, jsk, apron, and headpiece.
I went with pink and mint in the end though. I'm still a little nervous about the bit of open space around the chest, but if you add a necklace it's not so..scandalous looking? I've only seen a chest window on qipao style lolita dresses!

♡♡♡♡

Bodyline

I don't really have much to say here, they're dresses I bought and were gifted when I was a beginner!
I don't really wear them, but they feel too sentimental to let go of.

I don't have a reason to buy from Bodyline unless they're having a sale on blouses. There are so many good options out there these days that Bodyline kind of seems..a little obsolete? You can even buy their shoes, brand label and all, on Taobao!

♡♡♡♡

Blouses

Storytime!
This blouse was actually peach-colored, but I used rit color remover and re-dyed it to this bubblegum pink color!

This section is honestly quite pitiful, I've been extremely bad about buying blouses!
I promise by next year I'll own more (T_T)
It's so hard to find the exact colors I want, so in the end, I will probably end up buying white blouses and dying them the colors I need.

♡♡♡♡

Outerwears

Baby, The Stars Shine Bright

I bought these for maybe $8 a piece!

♡♡♡♡

To Alice

I wear this cardigan outside of lolita a lot!
It's a bit thick, so I tend to get warm pretty quickly when I'm wearing it.

♡♡♡♡

Little Dipper

I want to make an effort to buy this bolero in every color that Little Dipper offers, they're such a stable piece, especially when I don't feel like wearing a blouse. They're also very comfortable and budget-friendly.

10/10

Socks

For this section, I'm opting to use stock photos because as I was taking photos I became incredibly uncomfortable with the idea of sharing photographs of my worn socks??? My apologies!

Roji Roji

I am an absolute sucker for this sock brand, they're comfortable, reasonably priced and match almost 100% of my sweet wardrobe.

I'm not the biggest fan of them straying away from the knit/cotton style of socks, because the newer sublimated print ones tends to slide down my legs easier.

Moi Meme Moitie

I can't quite remember why I decided to buy these socks, it was more of an impulsive purchase but I'm a big fan of the electric blue that Moitie is famous for using! I would like to own more in the future as I expand my gothic and kuro wardrobe.

Enchantlic Enchantilly

I 100% bought these tights so that I could get free shipping at Harajuku Hearts, the print is very pretty in person and I'm excited to wear them! I wish the pretty rose detailing wasn't only at to top of these, though.

Baby, The Stars Shine Bright

I received these socks for free with my Usakumya Judy JSK!

Dark Star Island
( I own the short version!)

Antaina

I also own various pairs of solid black, white and pink OTK socks, but I didn't feel like they were important enough to bother finding photos for. Most of the items were no longer available on Taobao, and even as I'm writing this...I still feel odd about photographing my own socks to post online (lol)

Bags

Angelic Pretty

The first two AP bags are ones I got for about $7 a piece on mercari, and honestly, they're in pretty bad shape. The pleather is cracking, but we all know that AP bags aren't the most long-lasting.

They were just too cheap for me to pass up. I ended up peeling all the material off of the strap on one bag and dying it pink. I'll likely do the same for the heart bag.

Baby, The Stars Shine Bright + Sleepyland Shop

I got this cute BTSSB pochette with the sweetie gingham skirt! It's not a super big bag, but it can fit my phone, keys, wallet, and my Nintendo switch!

The Sleepyland Shop star bad was a Kickstarter-produced item, and it was great to support one of my mutual's brands! It's a 3-way bag and super spacious.

Loris

Honestly, the most durable bags that I own! The sax color is a little off from the other items that I own, but I'm not too pressed that it's not a perfect match. The quality is also great for the price.

Pre-orders

The rationally thinking portion of my brain turned off when this collaboration was announced and I flew into my shopping services DMs to ask for assistance buying it.

The accessories didn't stand out enough for me to purchase them, but I did have a hard time choosing between the colorways. I ended up going with sax though. I hope summer comes soon, I want to wear it so badly!

♡♡♡♡

And there we have it! My (mostly) completed wardrobe from 2022!

I wasn't able to photograph every single thing that I own, and my patience began to run very thin. I truly underestimated just how much work goes into something like this! I truly admire all these lolitas who take the time to prepare their wardrobe posts to share with everyone.

I don't consider my own wardrobe to be large, or impressive, but I'm quite happy with the things that I own and am able to put together some very cute coordinates. There are many coveted sweet prints that I want to own in the future, but I'm willing to wait (and pray) that Angelic Pretty will do more MTO's!

As for my 2023 lolita buying journey, I would like to buy more gothic and kuro pieces! I only intend to buy enough for a nice, versatile capsule wardrobe, as my lolita closet is getting pretty full! I would hate for it to spill over into my normie/non-lolita fashion closet but who knows what the future holds!

Thank you so much for scrolling through my wardrobe post, and I hope this new year treats you well!

45 Lolita Questions

I'm currently recovering from a small cold, so I thought I'd entertain myself by answering old questions from the EGL Livejournal  ...
