Inspiration struck again after watching AtePie shopping live streams, and for a while now I've had plans to go to afternoon tea with A-chan. So I decided to make a pretty headdress that doubles as a brooch.
I would have liked to make this sooner, but the florals and jewelry items at my job only very recently went on for a very good sale!
I originally wanted to use roses for this accessory. They're pretty and suit gothic lolita well! However, we were all out and I decided on this pretty burgundy marigold. The color is a bit faded and imperfect, but I thought it was perfect to work with for this small project.
The other materials are from my personal stash of materials and fabrics. I used a wooden round for the base, twill fabric, petticoat netting, ruffled lace trim, and ribbons. I've finally worked through all of my black trim and ribbon, so just this once I'll allow myself to splurge for more at work~
It didn't take very long to put it all together, and I'm very pleased with the outcome! I love the texture that the netting adds and the delicate little satin ribbon tails. I want to make another for A-chan, she's so cute and I know it would suit her elegant style.
The necklace was a simple job, just attaching the pendant to the necklace! The pendant reminds me strongly of something you'd see from Vivienne Westwood. I think it's a striking statement piece.
It's a bit annoying to keep the necklaces facing the right way, but I love it very much.
I couldn't find any matching pieces to make earrings with, but my ears are stretched anyway (sobs) and I'm not too fond of putting dangling ones in my second lobe piercing.
That's all for today! I also made a video of the construction, you can watch it here!
I'm really excited about my upcoming lolita date, the weather is perfect for afternoon tea with friends.
I hope that you're enjoying the sunshine, too.

That looks gorgeous! And I feel for you about the necklace. I have many that refuse to lay right.
